Wednesday 29 June - Thursday 30 June 2022
Bonjour! That’s what we’ll be saying to all our attending delegates – be they with us in body and soul, or in spirit via the internet – from our host venue Sofitel Melbourne On Collins over 29 and 30 June, as MEA brings the Australian events industry together for Evolve 2022.
A welcome function on the evening of the 29th will refresh everyone’s minds about the value of our community after a
3-year hiatus of coming together in person. Old acquaintances will be reaffirmed, and new relationships established over a few drinks and bites as the sector leads the way and shows how it’s possible to gather safely in large social groups.
Then the following day, feeling good and buoyed by having said so many g’days and just maybe those few drinks, delegates will be availed to a first-class professional development and education program MEA has created for building confidence through best practice. Holly Ransom, our MC, will lead delegates through a few plenary sessions – with former Disney Head of Innovation and Creativity Duncan Wardle headlining the day – before people customise their experience by selecting presentations across ‘Best Practice’, ‘Building Confidence’ and ‘Future Leaders’ breakout streams, ahead of coming back together for more plenary content. Breaks interspersed throughout the day will facilitate some more chatting and business development opportunities. But following the close of formalities we’re heading offsite for a quintessential Melbourne bar experience for some relaxed networking and – let’s call the spade a spade – drinking to see off the 2021/22 financial year.
We’ve deliberately scheduled the event late in the week to allow people the opportunity to make a long weekend of it should they wish and maybe catching an AFL game at the ‘G or Marvel Stadium (a MEA member venue), heading on out to St Kilda beach on the tram, sample a couple of rooftop bars, do a spot of CBD or Queen Victoria market shopping, or experience a few coffees in the laneways Melbourne has become internationally renowned for.
I’m a big believer of supporting those who support you, so I commend to delegates and potential delegates all of our event sponsors as a first point of contact for future events. The Melbourne Convention Bureau is your best starting point.
There are of course those who can’t get to Melbourne. In the interests of ensuring that everyone who wants to participate can, we are delivering in hybrid mode meaning virtual access to the content program is a registration option.
I’m very much looking forward meeting as many delegates as I can and putting faces and voices to names. Please seek me out and introduce yourself. For now as they say at Sofitel, au revoir.
